I like the idea even though it’s a bit lame but I’m not particularly happy with this shot. I plan to re-due this but if you’re reading this comment I failed to better this shot. The way it stands this is not really worth more that a high 4 in my opinion although my daughter quite likes it. I was tempted to re-due my entry from the first Absolut challenge (same bottle filled with water again) but think that might be the better entry for Take Two as I did receive good advice on how to improve the shot and I still have the props required. Anyway, not much point wasting time writing here as I plan to get a better shot.

A couple of hours before roll-over and I didn't get to re-shoot. This was only a test shot that didn't come out too badly considering it was at 1/20 sec and hand held. This is on the top shelf of my book shelf and I took some shots from down low with the idea of 'Absolut top shelf'. Those shots turned out pretty crap and I only had a few minutes to take the shots. I had problems with the white balance as the lights hitting the books were a combination of fluorescents and tungsten and the light source behind the bottle was LED. I adjusted the white balance to get the most natural lighting for the bottle. I mucked around with the processing to a level that I feel the shot is worth entering but I expect it to get creamed in a challenge that I feel brings out the best people for product shots, imagination or humour from this site. I feel a high 4 now may be a bit harsh and this shot is more like a 5.3xxx.

About an hour to go and the vote's around the 5.53 area so I'm happy with the result. I probaly should have entered my other shot that I was going to use for the Take Two challenge (I'll post it in the outtakes thread).

Thanks everyone for the kind and helpful comments.

like the lighting and great shot and concept - I would have liked to see more antique books to really give it that final polish

a nice idea, just lost a few points for the lighting of the bottle as it seemed quite harsh. if you could have found a way for the whole bottle to "glow" and somehow make the shadows look like the light was coming from the bottle i think it would be much improved.
