Many thanks to all who commented on this photo, at least a few got it:-)!
I felt like a stalker waiting around on the sidewalk for a lady with a bag to walk by and then I shot from the hip trying to be inconspicuous, hoping she wouldn't hear the shutter and clobber me with the bag.
I would like to get into street photography more but I feel like I'm invading people's personal space and so I do little of it. Maybe it would be easier in big cities but I don't like big cities.
I blurred the lady on purpose. I was shooting at iso1600 as it was and felt I needed as fast a shutter speed as possible because of the way I was holding the camera and to get 1/125 sec my aperture was f/2.4 so it was either the store front or her and I chose the store front because, well, I thought that was what HCB would have done:-).
To be honest I'm disappointed where the photo finished. I want to think that most just glanced at the photo and rated it low and I can live with that but I'm scared most people really did think it's a crappy photo.......and although it's no award winner I know, I think it did better than 89th:-).
My kid keeps telling me that the photo has to leap out at the viewer but I'd rather make the viewer work a bit........and score 89th, I guess:-).

The lady being out of focus takes the edge of this for me I am afraid, its a shame because its so close to being a great shot with the sign and the human element.

Lady with bag... I get it, lol. Wish the focus was a bit sharper, though

I see you staked out a location and waited for the appropriate shot. Very good idea! Perhaps a bit off in the execution in that you'd want your bag lady (not just the sign) to be a bit more in focus if possible (though I do realize HCB didn't fret focus as much as DPC does). And given the lighting there, maybe shoot a third or half stop under? Love the reflections, though. Makes for a richly layered photograph. A location worth revisiting.
