Challenge: Color on Color III (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-7D
Lens: Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Date: May 22, 2011
Galleries: Macro, Action
Date Uploaded: May 22, 2011

This small frog was accidentally sprayed by weed killer when I did my yard work. I brought him home for a thorough rinse and observation. His slow and calm behavior inspired me for taking some macro shots and then released him back to wet land. He found a partner thereafter.
With macro action shots for a small frog like this, focusing is extremely hard. I could only pray for luck. The lighting was easier, one amber gelled Nissin 360 TW for background, one Canon 550EX and reflector to illuminate frog. I used pure water, the green was from a piece of green acrylic. I figured out this frog like to jump directly toward my PWM dimmable LED light and that's helpful.

Wow!! for more than three years I finally set my personal record. Thank you all for the wonderful judgements and comments.

I like the effect of the water and the beautiful colours though I would have liked it as much if you had thrown a watch or anything else into the water.

Just shows you that even with a photo as brilliant as this...to get any vote under a seven is rather ridiculous, and still they are there...it continues to amaze me..25 out of 143 still got it wrong...or rather this might be a perfect example of what is wrong with DPC...

When a frog sit on a small platform surrounded by water, it can not go anywhere but jump into water. A dropper was in my hand to create water drops and ripples. The whole background was water surface with reflections on it. No nature light played the role, only high speed flash can freeze this action in macro. I used Nissin 360 old fashion auto flash which provide extreme high speed when set in auto mode and lowest output power.
