 Yet another stockyards shot. These vines grow on wooden bridge that leads to the horse trails just south of the stockyards. I have no idea what they are, but they are fascinating to me and apparently the bugs like them as well. The flowers look completely different from each other depending on what stage of growth they are in. These look to me like they are just about to burst open.

I am expecting this to perform in the mediocre range, with some people thinking I shot in midday sun (It's actually about 6 pm). I'm hopeful that it will be seen as something a little different and exotic. I'm not a flower person, and I'm expecting some incredible eye candy in this challenge, so a mid 5 will be the dream vote on this. I probably have one that would perform better, but it looks a lot like a lot of other shots I expect to see.

Anticipated critiques:
-Some might think this is poor midday sun.
-Some may not define this as a flower.
-Blurry spot in middle of frame. I need to clean my lens and didn't notice this until afterwards.

I was curious as to what sort of plant this is, so I did an image search using the description of "orange flower vine". I found out that this is called an Orange Trumpet Vine. Apparently it is a very hardy plant that is easy to grow, and tends to spread even when you don't want it to. Which explains why I found this growing wildly across a bridge.

oh, is that bright...full direct sun...to me this makes this very harsh to the eye

Now that's one unusual, vivid and, to be honest, rather ugly flower! I have never seen anything like it before and that is always a bonus - I love the way voting on DPC opens us up to new things. one point, technically, there seems to be some banding in the sky, which you may want to rectify if you ever print this photo.
