I recently found out about a tricky transfer software problem with my photos so I was left not having any to enter into the free study. So at the last minute I took this picture to add. Oh well, lesson learned.

Post processing work:
Desaturated
brightness/contrast layer masking out the areas I didn't want darkened or lightened. I did this step several times.
Then I did levels, hue and saturation, did some cloning out of the areas that didn't quite turn black, did some dodge and burn on the hands/worm. Did some curves work, then some levels again. Once I got it looking the way I wanted it, I used a sharpener then a high pass layer set to overlay.

I loved this shot. The grittiness of it is perfect.
