I wanted this to look like a child who had been abandoned by their mother, he is pining for her to come back, he keeps looking out of the window but she's not there, terribly sad emotions overcome him.

Abandonment happens, it's a terrible thing to happen to a child, i have not experienced it, nor will my children ever, but I know it will continue to happen.

Not much editing : I adjusted the colours and muted down the blue in my sons shirt, then I added soft focus, and then added porta mode colour, very faint. Then a touch of vignetting.
One of my better shots, that should do well-I hope, considering I was'nt going to enter this.

Nice picture but you would have been better off leaving the title ambiguous, IMO. By spelling it out you've made it harder for viewers to connect with this on a personal level unless their experiences happen to align perfectly with your description.

Nice use of lensbaby for a sense of isolation.

Seems posed and looks like the typical kid tantroom because he can't have or do something. Good luck. I do like the bokeh and soft focus.
