Post challenge:

Thanks for so many wonderful comments and some interesting comments on the title. It is of course just a visual representation of the three heads and the sentinel in the image. Certainly the space between the couple is important to the scene and is fundamental to my interpretation of the image.

For me, the phallic sentinel structure could represent a metaphor for the role of protector / defender that is expected of the male gender. However, the male characteristics of physical strength all too often are used not to protect but to dominate. Thus the phallic sentinel, for me, represents the male dominated society that watches over and controls us all. The fact that the woman is sat at the base of the sentinel and is thus the one most dominated by its appearance emphasises this impression.

Did I see all this when I shot it? Nope! But it is what emerged from the subsequent edit and post-hoc rationalisation for entering it in 'Sentinel'.

nice job paul, this caught the eye of every member of the OOBie committee and was an easy choice for the Sentinel OOBie.

Three souls separated by time and space, with one thing in common.

I can see where it came from now, but simply couldn't earlier when I was voting. I feel bad for giving you the 6 now rather than the 7. Technically still above the shots average though :)

Love the black and white tones. I like how you've used the reflection to make it look as tho the people are actually staring at the object.

Looks like an Arabic title, maybe Turkish coffee? Great concept, although a little phallic (it's me not you lol). I like the idea of the sentinel as the secondary subject (and I get the clever title, too). 8

Works very well - but does give me a rather base chuckle, especially with the word delicious repeated across the scene and the elderly couple gazing in apparent contemplation, separated by a small, but important distance!

So much depth to this shot. Not sure about the title though... sorta making me want to give it a 6 rather than 7.

I love the picture and the conversion, but I have to think it's in the wrong challenge. I'm gonna 6 ya, but mainly on what I'm looking for in this challenge and not the quality of the photo. 6

So artfully seen. Nice job. Probably too esoteric for the DPC masses, but I really appreciate it.
