thanks for all of the comments! I understand all your view points, and hopefully next time when i take a night shot, i can remember all of the critical stuff you brought out :)

Thanks for bringing out that the picture is a little tilted. i think that the tripod had a little something to do with that. I think that when i was editing it, i was going for a darker shot because i wanted the rest of the city to blend in with the bg and because the sky that night was not interesting.
:( the buildings, i wanted them to look almost like stars.

Anyways, thanks again everyone.

this is a magnificent shot .. love the nearly abstract quality with the lights forming the shapes of the buildings and the excellent lighting on the needle ..
maybe just a tad rotation to the left or it feels like this city is sliding very slowly off the edge of the world .. !! .. brilliant clarity .. :)
ps .. i didnt realised the lights at the top of the needle were on a christmas tree .. it only became obvious after other ppl commented .. :)

I like that the tree isn't the first thing you see, but as you view through the photograph, it suddently pops up as a delightful suprise - a sort of whimisical nod to the Christmas season. Makes me smile! Very good job with exposure and crispness in this shot. It feels just a tad leaning to the right to me - a simple rotation to the left would correct that.

I like the prominence of the Space Needle and the fact that it isn't centred, but is still the focal point of the photo. The cityscape around it helps add to the Christmasy feel, but it's tough to rely on an ornamental tree atop a structure the size of the SN to convey the feeling of Christmas.

Still, a very decent shot. Take what you can from the comments, and keep shooting! :-)

A nice entry. It needs a wee bit of editing correction but it is a great city scape nonetheless.
It is cool how the needle stands out amongst the rest of the night scene

I wish it had been squared to vertical, that makes a big difference to me. I see the tree, but in the context of the "challenge" that's just a token nod at Christmas IMO. It's a good picture, though :-)

Agree with Yo_Spiff's comments. The scene is also a bit underexposed for my liking but I understand you had to expose for the tree. Great effort!

A neat image, but !! This would have been even better with a longer exposure! :)

Though there is a Christmas tree of sorts at the top, this does not really convey much about Holiday spirit to me. Regardless of that, it's a very well done scene. My only minor nitpick is there appears to be a slight tilt to it that would have been easy to correct.

This is a great night shot. I love the tree on the space needle. Nice job making the needle the focus of the picture.
