I thought it might be... I gave it a seven. I do like what you do to beaches.

another lovely image Ben (although I prefer the other one for the subtlety of foreground texture)

Very nice, Ben; I like how the dark wedge on the left waveline throws a tiny sense of tilt into this scene, hinting at the hurtling-through-space that underlies the absolute stillness of the scene-as-seen. I was one of your 8's.

LOL! I guess I missed this one, Ben. Beautiful tones. I especially love the slightly brighter spot of sand in the front.

this is becoming something of a genre, but there's no denying how gorgeous this is. I guess the beach itself is something of a genre, but one lies upon it anyway, and one listens anyway because the waves never come in exactly the same.

I'm putting you in my Posthumous Art Gallery.

Gives me a feeling of great depth, like I'm standing there, searching.

Very, very empty, and fading into infinity.

After the recent Horizon challenge I should be jaded, but I ain't ... not when it's done this well. It's thrilling. Top 2 for me. Thank you.

I love the feel of this. Soft and grainy at the same time...

This looks like it expands beyond the frame forever. I do wish there were some object of interest. Be it a stone, driftwood, or anything to keep my attention.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: There are a lot of ways to shoot and present a beach but not everybody would be as brave as this. I like that. Wow, does this image show up marks on screens - I've had to float this around until I've found an area that doesn't make it look like you need to clean your sensor. Once I did, the image really sings - smooth but sharp, still but dynamic. Excellent.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overall: Beautifully subtle image.

Remarks: the vignette, in the sky section of the image, could perhaps be a little lighter and more subtle for my sense of an (otherwise) exquisite image. The diffusion of the forward texture (sand forms and pattern) toward an elusive vanishing point is quite convincing and delicious. Lens and/or aperture choices as well as the degree of toning applied serve the image well without drawing undue attention.

I love the pure emphasis on location, the emptiness and expanse of it all, without addition of a prop or staged element to simulate a more overtly composed landscape. It's a quiet aesthetic that won't wake everyone. Yet the riot it conceals is equally there, churning its delicate gists.

Nice tones, I like how the ripples in the sand leave to the horizon, nice minimalism.
