Challenge: Posthumous Ribbon (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: Street
Camera: Nikon D7000
Lens: Tokina AF 11-16mm f/2.8 116 AT-X Pro DX for Nikon
Location: Cajarc, France
Date: Nov 24, 2010
Aperture: F9
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/5s
Date Uploaded: Nov 25, 2010

This was shot in my local village, as it's a very old place there are lots of run down abandoned houses like this, i often walk past and wonder if they used to be happy homes or sad homes, or most probably both, in a way it would be nice to see them restored but i also like the feeling they give off, a bit like tombstones they make me feel the impermanence of it all, why worry .

The idea behind the Posthumous Ribbon is to encourage you to break the rules, to find new and different ways to express yourself. To free your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come, to laugh at world and at life, not doing what others are expecting you to do, but just following and listening to what's in your heart. DPC itís a wonderful learning place where everyone should be supported on their way to be a photographer. A special attention should be aimed to those working hard with different views and approaches to photography, those not aligned with the mainstream taste and receiving no recognition. Itís our responsibility to support these photographers creating diversity and expressing different visions. Being active at the Posthumous thread itís the best way to do it. Being active at the Posthumous thread itís the best way to protect your and the otherís freedom of being different. Thanks for taking the time to enter this challenge. Stay wild.

I like that the house doesn't fit squarely or snugly in the frame. Adds to the feeling of decay and collapse. The ghost-like figure also works to that effect.

This caught my eye as I was browsing the first time without voting. Love the luminance and motion. The edges of the image are just a bit too dark for me but they don't make me vote lower. All in all an excellent work.

Great photo. I love the juxtaposition of the building with it's extreme detail/clarity and the blurred shadowy figure passing by.

The ghost is almost an afterthought. The break in the curtains gets my attention first and I can see a pair of eyes there watching the ghost as he passes.

The passerby movement accentuate the slow disintegration of the building and creates a sense of depth. The green is gorgeous. (not voting)

there's so much to like here. i love the processing for one. this has to be one of my favorite styles, the muted overall look with light touches of a single color. but probably the most striking element is the sharp dead looking building crossed by the blurred form of life. a 9 from me.

Wow. I almost didn't see the guy walking by. Wicked good. An echo of what he was once, where he was once.
