Challenge: Portrait Triptych (Advanced Editing VII*)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
Location: Harwich Port, MA
Date: Nov 7, 2010
Aperture: f/2.8
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1/2000
Date Uploaded: Nov 7, 2010

ISO 1600 was left over from the night shot, LOL. Realized it and reset to 200, but this was the best of the images (because of the hair)... Amazing thing is that, while processing, I didn't NOTICE the high ISO...

**************

Took a single exposure and processed it "straight", including vignette, color balance, all that jazz, and saved it. Then did a soft version, and saved that, and finally a harsh version, and saved that. Copied the harsh version, opened the straight version, flattened it, and pasted the harsh as a layer. Did the same to paste in the soft version. Image was now 3 versions on 3 layers. At this point I did my crop.

Now I examined image dimensions and noted those. I tried a few border widths to see what size of gutter would work best, decided on 30 pixel gutter, and calculated image size x 3 + 120 (for the gutters) and created a new, blank document to those dimensions with a black BG.

Copied/pasted each version in turn and arranged them properly, then ran a "black soft" action on the whole thing, and added some more border top and bottom. Decided I wanted no side borders so spread the images further apart to get rid of that.

Adamus sharpening and save for web.

Fun!

Robert I like the idea, I would like to see the shirt sharp in each capture and just apply the blur to your face only in the first pic.
