Challenge: Free Study 2010-10 (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Nikon D700
Lens: Nikon AF-S Nikkor 16-35 f/4 ED VR
Date: Oct 30, 2010
Shutter: 1/15s
Date Uploaded: Oct 30, 2010

Handheld spinblur ... hold the lens and turn the cam.
I guess the main effect is due to the super wide angle (16mm on full frame) and with the speed of the turn (1/15s exposure).
Also I might have set the VR on to get something smoother ... but I'm not sure ;)

Kudos for entering this into a Free Study, where of course you got creamed. I gave you an 8 as I really like it, but knew you were doomed as this is not a DPC-friendly style.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I like that you've put this into the Free Study and how it makes me think about what I'm seeing. It looks like it's been made through the bottom of a glass bottle. The colours are really nice and their arrangement serves to give the brain enough information to work out what it is seeing.

Critical stuff: Even with the effect, there is only so much interest in this scene and as such I don't think it would hold a viewer's attention for too long.

Overall: Interesting, but is it interesting enough?

Gonna have to skip voting this one, since I feel I'm biased knowing whose it is from the side challenge. Especially since it gave me the idea for my dreams entry. I'll be curious to see how it fares in the court of broad appeal. It really is a cool effect and I'll probably experiment with it some more myself.

Made me queasy. Gorgeous colors, but I can't look at it.

A much more original approach to the autumnal season than most others, I'll be interested to see how you've achieved this, good luck
