 Had a hard time getting something that pleased me for this challenge, but since the topic was my suggestion, I was determined to enter. My first outing during lunch one workday, produced nothing terribly pleasing. I then had a spot in mind for Saturday when we were taking a trip to visit my daughter at college for homecoming. No sun and it rained bucket loads all day. I went out again Sunday afternoon to the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth to try and find a shot. It turned out to be their annual fall festival, so the place was crowded and it was hard to get a scene without a lot of other people in it. At one point I noticed this spider (a Black and Yellow Argiope) in partial sun and took a few shots, simply because I find these spiders fascinating in appearance. Turned out to be the only shot of the afternoon that really appealed to me.

I will say that the word "challenge" truly applied to this one.

Anticipated critiques:
-Not taken in direct sun (Well folks, THAT is one of the ways to overcome harsh midday light!)
-Expect some low votes without comment from people who don't like spiders. Including my wife.
-Composition is not "Rule-Of-Thirdsy" enough
-Shallow DOF puts some legs OOF

Post-challenge notes:
Started off very strong and then dropped like a brick until it settled in the low 5's. Meh.

More like rule of fifths in this case. Anyway, you didn't center it. I like your strategy for dealing with midday sun.
