Challenge: Negative Image III (Basic Editing)
Collection: Challenges 2010
Camera: Canon EOS-7D
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro
Location: Back yard
Date: Sep 26, 2010
Date Uploaded: Sep 28, 2010

These always make me think of the tutus and toe shoes of ballerinas. And I like that this works as well or better as a negative without looking like a negative, if that makes sense.

So yep - a flower. Well, a weed, gone to seed, but still... :-)

[Oct. 5th, 2010 12:39:34 AM]

It wasn't until several days into the challenge that I looked back at my other Negative entries (had one in I and one in II) and realized that a dandy finished just ahead of me in one of those challenges. Did not intend to copycat! It was in color, by the way, that other dandy.

And in the other Negative challenges I finished 13th (my favorite spot) and 18th. Let's see how this one does...

Post challenge: from now on, I invert all my entries.

haha! I hadn't noticed this one was yours. They need to run more negative challenges for you -- you ace them!

wow, just came across this (did not click on it scanning the top 10 page since never would have thought it was yours :)). What a feat to make a negative look like a positive. And this lens is so good! Good job, and congrats on a top 10!

I love the photo.
I love the grain.
Your photo should illustrate a guide for some people to learn how to appreciate the grain in photography.

Beautiful details and nice DoF. I'm a little distracted by the balance of the image, but I'm not sure how to crop it differently, without losing some of the great details you're showing off.

It is simply impossible to take a bad picture of a dandelion. This negative opens a whole new world of wonderful, exposing the marvelous detail of the insertion point, usually unseen due to its darkness. Bravo. Oh, and front page.
