Challenge: Sunshine After The Rain (Advanced Editing VII*)
Collection: 2010

The abandoned Swift meatpacking plant in Fort Worth. Though the tower makes this appear like a prison, I think the towers were actually for monitoring and guiding the cattle into the plant for slaughtering. Not much difference from a prison if you were a cow, I suppose.

This literally was "sunshine after the rain" We had torrential downpours and road flooding in the morning. It took me an extra 30 minutes to get to work. But I knew if the storms broke up, that I would get some great skies, so I brought my camera. I think there are some good metaphors going on in this scene. I don't normally do a b/w with selective saturation, but it seemed appropriate for this. Not sure at all how this shot will go over on the mass appeal scale. Hopefully this lens I bought from Scalvert still has some of his high scoring mojo left in it.

This is the same location as my "Skyscape" entry. The lookout tower on the right can also be seen in the foreground of the other entry:

I haven't a clue how this will perform. It could bomb in the 4's or pull in a 6+. I have some possibilities that I know are stronger eye candy, but this one really seemed to suit the theme perfectly for me, in both a real world and metaphorical sense.

Anticipated critiques:
-Don't care for the selective desat treatment
-Slightly blown details in sky
-Don't care for the use of the shallow DOF
-Tower on the right is slightly tilted, could use perspective correction. (I tried, but it was at frame edge and I would have cut the tower off at the edge of the frame doing that.)

Simple little flowers do not hesitate to grow in the harshest of places. They don't need a big, beautiful garden to show the world how pretty they are.

I really like what you did with it. For some reason, this doesn't look like an after-the-rain photo. Looks more like after-the-end-of-the-world. Since I like things like that though, I'll rate it high. I'd actually like a copy of it.
