Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM for Nikon

One shot, a sunflower through a very dirty piece of glass.

Edited in PSCS4, adjusted curves and colours in small increments in LAB mode. Then back in RGB mode, selectively adjusted areas of dark/light painting in both a multiply and a screen layer, and also using portions of a layer I ran through the Photomatix plugin to clarify some areas of the photo. Final colour adjustment, resized, sharpened, added 1 px border, saved for web.

I see two girls - one in mourning, and one blissful. Beautiful work!

This is one of those "wow" shots that I am surprised got pushed back to the 100s... Wonderful piece of art. Very creative.

Thrill :)

Thank you all for the comments/votes. This did a lot better than I expected, and the comments are very much appreciated.

I was hoping this would have done much better. This is incredible, and extremely dynamic and alive.

Look at the commenter average! To me, this is a wildly successful DPC entry. And lovely having you as a neighbor in a free study! (Hang on to that piece of glass - it works quite nicely!)

I almost love this. If I had had the good fortune to produce it I would have cleaned it up. As it is all the little white flecks spoil it for me. 7

I have no idea what this is (I can make out a bit of the yellow flower). This looks outstanding though, and its one of my favourites this month.

Great abstract! Lovely colours too. Best of all, you don't have to worry about sensor dust :-)

A gorgeous abstract. Great title to help focus the eye. Would love to know how you created the overlay look...

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This is the first image to pop up for me in voting - excellent!! Love the colours here - especially the polaroid blue hues. I like how it feels like a scratched transparency. I can clearly see the flower petals but I'm delighted you've retained so much mystery in this image. I like how it offer low and high contrast at the same time - I'm not sure how you've pulled that off.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overall: I really hope others enjoy this as much as I do. I wonder if the parallel Nixter challenge will open people up a little to the less conventional images sometimes offered up?
