Because one guy likes to exercise in the dark, I didn't turn on the lights in the small gym at work. That ended up leading to this image. I noticed for the first time the shine of the small remainig ceiling light on the back of the footplate of a leg weight machine. It was set off nicely against a dark background that, of course, is not normally dark. The "T" shape and texture of metal seemed worth capturing. So I used the best possible camera (the one I had with me - iPhone 3GS this time). Perfectly fitting to do "visual push ups" -- looking for good images in everyday settings as a daily practice -- in the exercise room. Can't help it that the thing was constructed with a piece out of square.

Hoping for a good score both because I really like how this came out (makes me think of sculpture displayed in a gallery) and because it would be nice to affirm the idea that good images can be made without always needing to have exotic locations and high end equipment. Still, free studies are tough, so it's hard to predict the final result for a somewhat abstract image.

Hehehehe. In another lifetime, I was a bodybuilder. The minute this popped up I thought "leg press". Don't be dissuaded by your score. You have a great eye.

Great idea. Don't let the score discourage you. Keep doing what you're doing.

This is much better than a 4.6 score IMHO.

I like this image a lot. I think it is worth a lot more than the miserable 4.6. Very artistic, nice texture, and lovely light.

BTW, I'm curious to know how you got the EXIF data from the iPhone image.

Looks like the underside of some piece of exercise equipment -- a bench? Points for originality. (I see some chroma noise; might have worked better in black and white anyway.)

Sorry, I can not tell what this is and the title does not really help. It looks like a straight-on photo of some unkown metal device. Sometimes straight-on works, when there is a symetry or pattern to be emphasized. In this case you could try other angles to showcase the object angles and textures. Perhaps a close-up of all the patterns of the lower left of the object might have made a good abstract.
