This isn't a remake of my first entry - that would have required a trip to Texas or finding a windmill somewhere in Los Angeles. Instead, this is a remake of Bob Crants' ( bcrants first entry and I really hope he doesn't mind!

His first entry was in a challenge near and dear to my heart - Pigeons. (A special thanks to LydiaToo who noticed this. I figured I was overdue for a pigeon entry....)

You will notice, though, that from this simple beginning, Mr. Crants has rapidly progressed in less than a year to ribbon winner with his entry in the Order challenge - pretty darn impressive! Anyway, thanks Bob. As I said, hope you don't mind!

I think I am the champion of damn-near-but-not-six. :-)

Love the processing and the image in general, very underrated.

I love the faint 'lines' in the background and the sharpness of this combined with the shallow DOF. To be 'perfect', I guess the neg space needs to be right of the bird, instead of left.

I just love the look - as if it is saying 'so do you have any food over there?'

Darn - if I had given you the 7 maybe it would have helped push you closer to that 6 :( So close!

You know I love it so I am not gonna vote because I don't think I can do it without bias. But I'd give it a 7.

bcrants first entry, I like the tones and the background but am not so taken on the negative space behind the pigeon

I'm not quite sure what to do with this one. It's a spectacular photo, yet it doesn't seem to have absolutely nothing in common with the original, except that it's the same subject. Which seems to stretch the definition of the challenge. Yet normally I'm pretty open minded about challenges. So I decided to write this long comment instead of voting, at the moment. Because I can't see voting this down, and I can't vote it high (although I'm waffling on that point). But I thought I'd share these thoughts in case you were getting low votes on this--because it is an absolutely wonderful shot.

Nice processing. If there was enough extra space, I might have cropped a bit tighter on the right and less on the left, to add some negative area, and a more balanced rule of thirds composition.
