When I was walking down the other side of the street (Telegraph Avenue), and past this fellow in a blue-sequined top hat sitting in a doorway, he said "Hey, I like your camera," so it only seemed fitting that I would try and capture him for this challenge. Somewhat unfortunately, he was sitting in a shadowed doorway, but at least the light was pretty even.

The challenge description seems to require an image in the style of a formal portrait, while still being taken in a candid situation. I shot this from across the street -- waiting for a break in the traffic (both pedestrian and automobile), and for him to look in my direction. My goal was to make it look like an old-fashioned, hand-tinted print from maybe the late 1800's -- I didn't try to "correct" the noise/grain or soft-focus ...

Interesting choice of going with the purple tones. IMHO, I think if you had gone with a sepia treatment, it may work with the grain for an antique look. Anyways, this popped out for me cuz the guy looks like a modern day Billy the Kid [in New Orleans with the beads :) ] Good luck with the voting.

Not sure what is going on above his right eye. The image is also noisy.

Artistic -- maybe a little overdone. His left eye looks like it's had a bit too much doctoring...

Sorry, but I don't like the processing on this one.

The treatment has something of an old time hand colored appearance to it. The eyes are a bit oversharp and appear a little out of place with the rest of the shot.
