This is an Outtake from the delicate challenge. i felt like i could do so much better than i did so i had another crack at editing and came out with something that really moved me.

this is my girlfriend, Heather. she can be awefully shy when it comes to me taking pictures of her but she is a really good sport about it.

IMO the look that she gave me in this particular shot is irreplicable, the care in her expression is overwhelming. i hope people feel the warmth and lightness that i do from this moment.

alot of the specific PP i have forgotten as its been done in steps since the completion and dissatisfaction with the delicate II challenge results

@ Jedusi : i know what you mean about the bed. its more obviously a bed when the photo is in its original horizontal orientation. the brightness of it is potentially distracting and would have been better off thought of ahead of time.

This is a really sweet picture - I like the tenderness and gentle feel of it aided by the pastel pallette. Nothing loud - nothing harsh - all the elements contributing towards a feeling of intimacy.

My only slight wonder is whether the block of white on the right ( presumably the bed ? ) actually is a distraction ? The eye tends to naturally be drawn to bright areas, and can compete for the viewers attention with the main subject.

Still a very nice shot though

WOW! my first award at DPC. thanks so much Prash! it means a lot to me when my pictures can be meaningful to other people, especially when they are photographers who i respect (the people here on DPC). thank you, and i'm really glad that you liked the shot. this kind of recognition is a tangible reminder that i actually am progressing as a photographer. slowly but surely

In my views, this is a great picture. Of course I didn't vote on this one.

You get the award!

I do not want to be rude and I cannot place what is really bothering me about this picture. Maybe it is the lighting and maybe it is the composition. It really doesn't appeal to me. DPC's always want to know why one votes a picture down and in a challenge this size it is not easy to comment on every one. At first glance this seemed a 5 but after I looked at it I thought no 4, but I'll stick with my original decision of 5. There is nothing outstanding, nothing WOW it is a mediocre picture of a girl and her teddy.

I like the softness of the picture but the overblown white part to her left makes the image look flat. 6
