Setup shot

Details

1) Use Cokin filter holder or something to cover the lens
2) Slide a board/anything solid covering half the lens
3) dim the lights - keep some light to help pour the wine/water at the right place
@f/11 & ISO100 there is very little light that goes in
4) Release the shutter using remote
5) Pour wine with one hand and trigger the flash with another
6) Cover the other half of the lens, so no light spills in.
7) Replace the glass with an empty glass, have place markers to replace it at same position
8) Uncover the other half of the glass
9) Pour water and trigger flash
10) Close the shutter.
11) Now do that almost 50 times to get the levels/center strip/everything else correct.

Important note - To empty the glass of wine don't drink it or this will happen ;)

Very cool idea. A little more symmetry and a white wine color would have made this perfect. Well done.

How did you do this in Basic Editing? Great job... I did mine similar to this in Photoshop then found out I couldn't submit it and had to change gears at the last minute.

Must admit as to being baffled as to how you acheived this under basic editing rules. Definitely one of the best of the challenge.

Nice - A variation on the "water into wine" shot that was recently in the forum threads perhaps...?

I'm not keen on the border cutting through the image, but the image itself is great.

9 (I'll deduct a point for the border...)

If it wasn't for the funky border I'd probably give an extra *.
