it's not exactly photojournalism, unless you work for national geographic. which works. i'm gonna give it a ten because it's actually really good compositionally, and the artifacts create an interesting texture. and everyone else will hate it. that's ok, i think you did a wonderful job.
12/01/2002 11:01:00 PM
the origial may be ok but this submission is all pixelated?
12/01/2002 06:25:00 PM
need a close-up lens
12/01/2002 06:23:00 PM
This image is extremely blured and pixelated on my end. Originally I scored you very low. However after careful consideration I Could see this image published in some naturalist magazine or something of that "NATURE"
12/01/2002 09:31:00 AM
oh boy...i'm sure you've heard it already, so I won't say it again :) Nice macro shot,though :) 3
11/29/2002 07:47:00 PM
re-sizing got you here!
11/29/2002 03:58:00 PM
Wow is this pixelated or what! Did you try blowing this up to fill the frame or is this the digital zoom on the camera? Also, flowers are kind of overdone so this does not inspire me to give you a high score.
11/29/2002 01:22:00 PM
Cover of BH&G, but why is pic so grainy?
11/29/2002 10:54:00 AM
More grain than a wheat storage bin. The photo editor says it is very artistic but will not make the front page. JEM

Hrm.... Well, it's a nice shot. Angle and composition are nice. I'm wondering however about the jpeg artifacts? Was that intentional, or the byproduct of too much editing and/or a lower quality camera? I can see how it might have been intentional in order to give it the grainy effect of, say, a newspaper printing. Benefit of the doubt on that. But I fail to see how this fits the challenge. Your title doesn't even help me make up a story to believe in... :/
11/28/2002 07:36:00 PM
Grainy, maybe over sharpened. Can only guess for a horticulure magazine or article anouncing winning flower at a show. Cropped to closely Not good execution at all. Also title doesn't really tell much about the picture and accompaning article. Not a good shot. PTL3

completely off topic....and only 56.3Kb - jpeg artifacs don't get much worse than this.
11/28/2002 12:42:00 PM
At first I was going to vote down this picture due to the amount of compression artifacts in the image. But, on second thought, I kind of like this picture because of the "texture" caused by the compression, and the vivid colors. I don't know for sure if you really intended to do this.

very nice attempt at a macro with what i assume is a lower end or older camera. composition and color are right on. however, i dont see that this anything to do with PJ : (
11/28/2002 04:00:00 AM
Far too pixelated, too tightly cropped and it doesn't fit in the challenge. Sorry. Nice bright colours though.
11/27/2002 04:56:00 AM
Photojournalism at its best! :-)
11/27/2002 12:13:00 AM
way too distorted... and doesn't really meet the challenege, especially the part about being worthy of the front page

Looks way out of focus - probably caused by too small a crop. I can see the pixels. Not cover worthy.

The colors in this are wonderful, and it looks like it would be a really good macro. However, it seems that it is extremely pixelated. It looks like you have cropped it out of a larger picture, then enlarged it or something. Of course, if this is deliberate, that is another story all together, and I would be most interested in hearing why. karmat

Nice for a card or print, but photojournalism, I'm not sure. I wouldn't rule it out, however, depending on the story it went with or the publication it would go into.
11/26/2002 03:47:00 AM
Wow. You need a new Cam that can take better res pictures.
11/26/2002 01:03:00 AM
Poor picture quality, not related to the challenge enough.
11/25/2002 09:40:00 PM
Apart from the jpeg noise and compression problem.this is definitely not photojournalism
11/25/2002 09:26:00 PM
I'm afraid this is rather extremely pixelated, and also a bit weak on the challenge... sorry...
11/25/2002 07:34:00 PM
I can only guess that you intended for the picture to be this grainy/noisy. I find myself wondering what front page this one would make. I wish I could see more detail in the center of the flower.

It looks "pixelated"
11/25/2002 02:59:00 PM
//www.irfanview.com/ IrfanView is free software if you can't get Photoshop or something else along those lines. What ever you used for compression has trashed your pretty flower. Justine

?????????
11/25/2002 12:46:00 PM
The image quality on this shot is suffering terribly from pixellation... not sure what happened here, but it needs some serious help... I also do not understand what is 'journalistic' about this photo. The photo is not telling me a story... - setzler
11/25/2002 11:20:00 AM
Not sure if this would make the front page, but I do like the way it is, I like the way I can see all the squares in the pictures. Vote 4 Sonifo

OK..... i wonder if this is a joke... a flower pic of EXTEMELY poor quality. If I could give a 0 i would.
11/25/2002 10:01:00 AM
Aren't we humorous. Succh talent and imagination... You are either repetitive or replicating an allready rancid adolescent joke. How about a fire truck for next challenge ?
11/25/2002 09:23:00 AM
To much post processing. Very grainy and the colors are washed out. The framing of the shot is nice.
11/25/2002 06:01:00 AM
Come on! A waste of time!
11/25/2002 01:07:00 AM
In the first place the photo is extremely grainy. In the second place it doesn't fit the challenge AT ALL. Sorry, but I'm giving this a 1.
