Thanks for the wonderful comments!! This was taken at a great rookery at Gatorland near Kissimmee, Florida overseen by one of the family owners, Mike Godwin, himself an accompished photographer. The area is "target rich" with thousands of beautiful nesting herons and egrets (along with their nearby gators) that seem to have no fear of people. This one just dropped in on a small gazebo roof about 30 feet from the lens. Minor PS, including neat image and small amount of editing to remove little halo effect.

A brilliant capture of the bird......sharp and really well done.
For composition, I would have included more sky to the right, giving the bird an area to 'fly' into, placing the bird on the left line of thirds and balancing this image. That would have boosted the score even higher.
