This picture is more or less unposed. I told Caden to go and stand under the bucket while I got some pics. Everybody else was unaware I was taking pictures and Caden's pose is merely his way of posing for the camera (in other words, he's the antithesis of Laine's modelling). I found the contrasts between his stoic expression and the joy/terror exhibited by the other kids to be too good to pass up entering.

Also one of my favorites. A 10 during the challenging and it's been in my favorites since the challenge. I like it for the exact same reason you do. It's just such a great expression on his face given all of the activity around him. Just fantastic. You can't plan moments lke this.

You are one of the few on DPC who can enter a snapshot and pull a high 5 with it!

There are subtle touches that take this over the top. All the other children are in poses that suggest action (but also *re*action to the violent water spray), and all of their faces are hidden, but goggle-boy stares at us fearlessly.

Well, you broke 100, sneezy. I'm stunned this didn't make at LEAST top 50 :-(

Your photos are always good, and this one is delightful, but the title is genius.

If you could caption this it would be fun. He appears to be either bored, or put off by the crowd. Either that, or it's "hurry up Mom and take the photo". :-) Nice job of freezing the action with the high shutter speed.

LOL! Fabulous title :-) I think I would have been amused by this, anyway, but the title just makes it that much more enjoyable.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Very well executed - perfect technicals, great title and a mood well conveyed. There is something about this image that is so un-snapshot; despite it having so many family snapshot elements.

Critical stuff: I do like it a lot - I think a monochrome conversion would work really well too.

Overall: A very nice image with just the right amount of edge - I hope it does well for you.
