There was a light behind the trees and if you stood at the right angle, you'd see this x-shaped shadow. The mist further enhanced the mystery of the scene.

This is awesome, would have been nice to also see a man stepping through here, in the style of The Exorcist.

Wow, I get so disoriented traveling through this scene. Clearly you were drunk, or something! Nice reference to the X-Files!

Commenting as part of my Team Suck duties...

What a great image. Don't feel I gave this enough of a chance when voting... looking at it now, I'm seeing a lot that I don't remember seeing before. Powerful. Beautiful. I can only apologise for not giving it the time, and score it deserves... i.e. should have been up there with my other favourites.

This was so over the top for the DPC crowd. It is extremely "art photography" and I think it is stunning. Sorry it didn't suit the masses. Wait... maybe that's a good thing. :)

One of my two top scorers for the challenge. (It's not that I don't appreciate the other photos, but there is little that is interesting about them.) This one stops and makes you wonder.

Love the shadows here, obviously what you were going for but it's really well done so I had to point it out :)

Tremendously atmospheric and evocative. Sherlock Holmes Vs The Triffids! The busy composition and shadows are perfect and create an air of menace and spookiness. My pick for the Blue. 10.

My favorite of the challenge. I love the mystery created by the shadows and darkness. 10 from me.

I feel that the light in the center detracts from the branches. Definitely interesting.
