The Tagus gardens are located under the north margin of the river with the same name below the Vasco da Gama Bridge (the bigest in Europe at the moment with 17.2 km (10.7 mi))

This was taken on a tripod with the kit 14-42mm and a Hoya Infrared Filter.

Main PP is as follows:
Straightened, cropped, switched Red and Blue channels, then auto leveled each channel separately, used an S-shaped curve to get a little more contrast and finally a bit of fill light to recover the deep shadows.

Superb shot Duarte. Would love to see a version with the hot spot burned in a little. It's beautiful as is but taking away that distraction would keep our attention to the bridge, which in itself is a great piece of architecture.

Hi, Critique Club here...

This is a fabulous photograph. The colors are just right, I love the IR, and the curve of the bridge leads the eye right into the picture, although unfortunately stopped by the bench. The dramatic clouds are icing on the cake.

My suggestions: I think the hot spot is really distracting and would probably consider making this a pano crop to get rid of it. I would have liked to see the bridge extending all the way out, maybe just a couple feet to the left to avoid the bench would have done it.

Finally, and a testiment to how nice the photo is, I don't necessarily think this is a good fit for the challenge. I'm actually surprised it recieved the relatively few low votes it did.

If I had voted in this challenge I would have voted either a 5 or a 6, simply because I tend to have a hard line on images meeting challenge descriptions. If this were a free study, or other challenge, and 8 or 9 for the hot spot and the bench.

Of course these are just one person's opinions and are offered for your consideration only.

This is one of my top choices. You did an excellent IR job here. I hope you place well in the challenge.

This place looks kind of creepy but also like a place I've been in my dreams. Wouldn't be surprised if some day I do have a dream where I'm in a place like this.

Nice composition, though I wish the left bench didn't disappear into the bridge. The garden part is elsewhere though.

Nice subject. DMC. (Does Meet Challenge) in shoehorn sort of way :) Nice PP, interesting perspective.

This is great because it almost doesn't look like infrared.

Everything in this photo is just perfect, the futuristic look, the vanishing point of the bridge, the blurry clouds, and the feeling of calmness looking at the park benches and grass, but in the end it's not my kind of photo when I imagine something that should be in the garden, 7

Very unusual, will have to come back to it, to check if it grows on you.

Jesus, this is great!!
Perfect leading lines, great tonal tweaking, and the composition is amazing.
Very well done Duarte, just brilliant. Top marks and a serious contender in this challenge.
Ps - you have a hot pixel on the right, just below the water line, I hope it's not the camera!

If I were a client contracting you to shoot me some garden photos without using flowers and you came to me with this as the final product, I would be amazed at your great photography skills but very dissapointed with the work because what you have photographed for me is a bridge crossing a major waterway in a portugese national park. I would not be obliged to pay for this because it is not what I asked for. Great shot... just not for this challenge.
