A day after I entered this shot, my husband told me that 3 girls were killed while they were crossing a railroad bridge. I thought about pulling the photo, because I didn't want to be insensitive, but I thought I'd wait and see if anyone commented on it's inappropriateness.

I love walking on a railroad track. I just remember doing it once or twice as a child, and it seems like such a throw-back to childhood. I wanted to tell people they should kick off their shoes every once in awhile and enjoy the simple pleasures.

This actually is my 14 year old daughter. We're at a spot in town where the trains aren't going very fast and where you can see the for a long way coming, and you hear them for an even longer period of time. This photo now has a double meaning for me--it's still the "kick back and enjoy life", but now it has become the "you don't know what's around the bend" photo.

I'm so sorry for those families. Cherish what you have, people. You never do know what's around the bend.

ok, this is getting really eerie. There were two more teenagers killed on a railroad track due to visibility. I'm not liking this shot very much, anymore.

I gave this a 7 'cause I loved the "Kick off your shoes and go!" thing. Nicely done, LOVE the DOF!

Your DOF and low POV makes this photo work great.

A good average, but I still think you got robbed. Got a 7 from me. If I'd had time to vote 'em all this might have even gotten a bump up at the end.

Sorry to hear the bad news story. It does not change what the photo is. Warning taken, however.

excellent shot - although maybe just a little too bright - still it has nice elements and different textures and leading lines; makes it all very interesting

Fun composition. Nice use of depth of field. Be careful playing on the railroad tracks.

Good use of depth of field and framing. Not an image thing, but does the title match the image? maybe ther track is no longer in use :-)
