Many layers.

Processed in RAW, adjustments to Shadows/exposure
1st layer, cropped, adj, levels, curves, contrast. Converted to tritone. Converted back to RGB. Burned away distracting background areas.
2nd layer, overlay at 26%
3rd layer, linear dodge at 19%
4th layer, multiply at 15%
5th layer, soft light at 10%

resized, bicubic sharper.

Thank you Nusbaum and Jmsetzler.. There were a lot of strong images, so I'm not suprised. Of course, one always hopes to do better. I appreciate your sentiments.

Beautiful - very emotive and lighting (though probably not what people might consider technically perfect) works superbly for me. Like the strong shadows and the way the hand disappears into those.

Like the picture very much.
Just wondering though if the back of the hand should be a bit lighter, would show more a working mans look with vains showing
