This is my son at the dining room window. Not only did we get two feet of snow, but the sun came out about noon, so the outside light was blinding. This is a one second exposure.

About the camera
The camera is a Helix cigar box about four inches deep. The "lens" is a credit-card sized pocket Fresnel magnifier (like this). The diaphrahm (black construction paper) has a circular aperture about half an inch in diameter (~f/8). I use Ilford RC multigrade paper and Ilford chemicals.

Thanks for the comments! I've got to interject though -- this is not a pinhole camera (yes, I make those too). A pinhole camera has no optics. Improvised as they are, this camera does have optics. A DIY pseudolens, if you will. The aperture is equivalent to what you'd find on a conventional lens camera. You can poke a finger through it -- not a pinhole. Just thought I'd pass that on. Pinhole images can be tack sharp; these images don't stand a chance!

It's about time they came out with a Digital Helix Cigar Box Camera. I wonder if they sell them at Amazon? ;^)

Very cool, very artsy! Did the poor dear have his eyes closed while standing at the window? lol

Such an ethereal moment you captured. Beautiful!

Nice work bvy. The posture creates some interesting confusion.

Too bad the camera is so hard to control, but the results are wonderful. I love the retro feel of this one.

These homemade pinhole cameras are amazing. I didn't realize there was such a thing. I like this so much. It has enough definition yet leaves the rest up to our imagination.

Love it, it's a shame that you can't make a digital version of the camera to save on paper...
