Greetings from the Critique Club

My first impression of this image was a big WOW! It immediately brought back memories of the Pueblo summer solstice ceremonies in Chaco Canyon. The bright colors and action, along with that excellent expression and blue eyes just grabs my attention.

Really nice composition, you have the major attention point directly on a rule-of-thirds line intersection, and you have managed to create an interesting leading line from the group of people trailing off to the upper right corner.

Your subject matter couldn't be more interesting (to me). I just love the action and vibrancy of these people, it looks for all the world as if they were truly having the time of their lives.

I love the focus here, super sharp on the foreground face, and wonderfully soft everywhere else.. Really, really good way to do this... Noise is almost non-existent, and the low key exposure is really appealing here (I do like low key, so I'm probably slightly biased)..

You have created an excellent image, and it certainly deserves to have finished as well, if not better, than it did. You hear quite a few people talking about this mysterious thing called impact... Well, this image has it.

What a wonderful image... wish I was there to experience this, but your photo does a great job of taking me there. The detail, the colour... superb. Love the use of the vignette and DOF... brings the focus on the dude up front, but leaves enough of the others to help tell the story. Excellent job.

So fierce! Seems as if he is emerging from the darkness. Like an image from a dream. A case where heavy color saturation works.

You nailed this. Not only is the composition outstanding, but you've captured the moment perfectly. Just the right shutter speed to capture the fast motion of the feathers, while keeping the face sharp. Your processing is beautifully done as well. One of my top picks of the challenge.

I see that you've caught me in a PMS moment...either that or, when I run out of Diet Pepsi! LOL Actually, the crop, the DOF, the colors....everything works so well together to make it an "in your face" photo that grabs attention.

Love the colors of the costumes and the expression of the man you captured in the forground. Open mouth in mid battle cry/whoop such that I can almost hear the noise and spectacle. Great detail and well composed. Not only is my eye captured by the man in festival garb in front but I can see the procession of other like dressed festival goers in the background. I would be curious to learn the details as to what and where this festival took place after the challenge rollsover.
