Just a normal setup, I wish I had three arms.

I had a straw in my mouth (to create and "guide" the bubble to the place where it would be in focus), an eyedropper in the left hand to drop the drop (pardon the redundancy :) and a trigger on the right.
Then it was just timing and some pictures.

First day into voting:
*Wow, I had no idea this would go so well!
7,8 on the first 20 votes, it will go down, but now I'm rooting for a solid 7+.
Too bad I didn't make a "How did you do this", but maybe I'll have to think about it.

Post Challenge
Whoa!! A new PB, and I never thought it could be so high!
Thank you so very much for all the great comments, it's really a privilege to be among such great photographers, seriously!

And although the explanation was a bit short, I plan to have some pictures of the process, is really so much easier than it sounds, and for anybody who is used to shooting water drops, knows that it's 1/3 technique, 1/3 practice and the rest is luck, to get a good drop.
I too didn't like the crop, but as you can see by the original I had no great alternative...Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_848967.jpg

Also, some people have asked for the processing, and I remembered instinctively this forum, where some defended Topaz and similar and others disliked it. The processing of this shot is contrast, clarity and white balance in ACR, and then Portrait Smooth preset in Topaz Adjust, to get the image smooth on the small details, but retaining the larger ones. Glad nobody guessed it :-P

Thank you again!!!

Amazing capture. So pretty.

I'm glad to know someone still remembers that movie besides me. I was just comparing how it was state-of-the-art computer animation back then, compared to Avatar today.

Congrats on your blue and for getting such a high score. Considering this is a much-maligned water-drop shot, it's remarkable! I'm happy to have been one of your 10 votes.

Thanks so much for sharing your original and your processing -- very generous of you.

Well done water bubble - you imparted the sense of otherworldly life in it and in the reflection. Kudos to Cameron for his wonderful films which entertain, make you feel and make you sense something more, as this does.
Beautiful.
