 When I read the challenge title, the first song I thought of was The sound of silence. I also immediately thought of using the seashell I’d used for this photo:

I formed a sheet of thin black cardboard into a cone shape and stuck the flash inside it. This meant I only had a small tunnel of light to work with. I flashed from the side and slightly at the back of the shell. It took a while (and lots of shots) before I got it right but I like the way the photo turned out.

Such a simple entry and yet it is so very effective with the reflection on the stark black background. The sound of silence perhaps because the creature who called it home has long since gone and only the essence of the Life remains. If you pick up the shell, do you hear the ocean calling still?

Nice lighting! I'm not a fan of the lines at the top and bottom but the shell and reflection are amazing.

The light seems to evoke some sound from the saying you can hear the sound of the ocean in a shell. Beautiful shot though.
