Not an unusual subject, but nothing else from this month is as interesting to me. Well, except some of my Bird outtakes, but I suspect voters won't be excited about more birds. And I do like the light and detail here.

PP - qtpfsgui (pregamma 0.697, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.1, saturation factor 1.049, detail factor 5.5), merged with original at 20% transparency, white balance, levels, cropped, dodged eyes a bit more, cloned out bright bit under one eye, blurred background more, resized, sharpened, added border.

Post-challenge: wow; highest score and placement I've ever gotten in a FS :-) Thanks, everyone!!

This is beautiful light! I'm curious. Did you light this? Is it natural? You are either a master at lighting fleeting moments or a master at toning a photo! Just gorgeous!

Awesome little guy! I love the look and the background - just adorable! Congrats on the excellent score, too - and only four votes below 5 - that's very impressive!!

Lol - what a great squirrel - he looks like he has arrived to deliver a message.

" Follow me . . walk towards the light . . . "

This is so very darling. I just love the lighting - and of course the cutest little squirrel ever.

Probably one of the better squirrel photos I've ever seen. The texture and color of the fur is very good. Though the pose is somewhat typical of squirrels, I like it quite a bit here. I'd like to see a bit more DoF to get the details out of that giant bushy tail, but I like it as it is.

Nice shot. I like the way the light plays on the fur.

This pretty amazing really - squirrel shots are 10 a penny (done a bunch myself) but this 'pose', this lighting and this background elevate this image to something rather special.

Gotta love the little buggers. I am happy is head is in focus. It is a nice clean portrait of the critter. Though for me it does not offer enough excitement or wow factor.
