[Dec. 16th, 2009 06:16:44 AM]

wow!! I woke up to a 7.0! (30 votes) The really bizarre thing is that I dreamed I was at a 6.9 at 20 votes and over 7.0 with 24. When I actually woke up, I thought "this will be so disappointing..."

It's been an incredibly busy week. I wasn't even going to try for a shot, and I already had to give up on Sunday's shot. But my son had a band concert and then we all had haircut appointments. So I had my camera with me because of the band concert. When we walked into the salon, and I saw this wonderful lady sitting under the dryer, I thought it was the perfect opportunity. I can't tell you how many times I had to sit at Mr. John's and wait for my mom to finish. I asked her if she would mind being in a photo and explained why. She was happy to do it. I took about 4 minutes and about 15 shots (pretty much all the same shot with just slightly different angles)

Ok, now I'm going back to sleep. Whatever happens to the scoring during the week, it was a fun morning and an fun day at the salon!

[Dec. 16th, 2009 09:58:32 PM]

Ok, I shouldn't type when I'm sleepy -- way too many mistakes in that last post! I'm at 94 votes and 7.04. How incredibly exciting! I'm sure it can't stay over 7, but I'll be sitting with my fingers, toes, and eyes all crossed for the next 6 days.

[Dec. 22nd, 2009 11:36:20 PM]

argh! 212 votes and at 7.0183--it has stayed about 7.0 since 110 votes. It has gone down in the last 24 hours. Is it high enough so that the vote scrubber won't bring it back down below 7? 26 minutes to go! The suspense is... umm... not boring?

_____________
awesome, awesome, thank you thank you!! How incredible ending up above 7.0. Thanks everyone!! And thanks for the wonderful comments!

I live 46 years in the salon as a stylist. This photo is outstanding. It reminds me of Norman Rockwell.

Great photo! It does not looked posed. The lady under the hair dryer did a great job of pretending you was not there. I'm assuming the boy was your son...likewise, he did a great job. He really does look bored.

Dude! Been there! Done that!

As a kid, my mom went almost every Saturday, and with Dad working every Saturday, guess who went to the salon?

Still don't like the smell of perm solution to this day! Whew! Not good... :}

Fantastic retro feel to the shot. Both poses are perfect and I love the slight rebellious look to the boy with a smart shirt ("my mother made me wear this") but the casual trainers and white socks.
Great crop on the right, allowing some depth to show but pegging the eye to the front with the table and glass.
The image as a whole tells the story, no title required. That's my measure of a great photo.

Well done - this is a great image. I imagine one could fine a commmercial use for this image it's that good convering the challenge subject matter. Should place high if not a ribbon.

Great composition. An instant classic.
The only thing keeping me from rating it 10* is a fishy perspective.
What's going on? Anyway the characters almost hide it.

Excellent!!! I think this nails the challenge theme. Composition and color are good, maybe a little "processed" looking, but this is my high-score thus far (88% voted).

I wonder if he is waiting his turn, or perhaps he's had to tag along with grandma. It's a great capture of his boredom whatever the circumstances.

This is just hysterical. Not just the poses but everything - the shoes, the rug, the shadow on the wall, the black furniture shapes - every little detail is good. I hope this does well for you. 8

WOW... this photo brings me back to being stuck with my parents in crappy places before we had cell phones to play on and all that there was for entertainment were garbage magazines that didn't interest us in the least... Good job flashing a memory, bonus points 9

The only shot in the challenge that truly epitomizes boredom. Congrats on the Blue. If not, the voters suck.

This has got to be the blue ribbon winner. You have captured the essence of boredom for this boy. The image is excuted flawlessly. So well done!!! I do hope to see a blue ribbon by this at roll-over. I am not voting...but would give this a 10.
