Two days into voting, this shot is doing surprisingly well.

This is the original edit, but it really didn't emanate decay so I dropped out the door/windows and added a grungy noise layer over the barn.

The snow on the mountains picked up a lot of blue from the sky, so I pulled the blue out of the snow.

Post-Challenge: Elation. I had an idea that this image was in the running for a ribbon as it was scoring a new PB for me until the last 5-6 hours of voting. My first ribbon on Christmas eve - Thanks Santa!

Congrats on the ribbon - IMO the yellow is the best one to get too! ;)

Congratulations on your yellow, this was one of my favorites of the challenge.

I kind of agree, I am guessing the reason the door and windows got blacked out was to make it appear more abandoned and Like others have noted I think I like the original image better than the entry but still a Really a beautiful scene and nice image!

I was gonna say this doesn't look a lot like Texas... :-) LOVELY shot and gorgeous edit - congrats on the excellent score and the shiny ribbon! (As for "dropping" the door and window, I don't think I really would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.)

Congrats on your first ribbon, Tommy! It's a beautiful shot :)

Since 'dropping' them out doesn't change the viewer's description of the image, I think it should be fine.

Lovely work! Congrats on your ribbon!

Congrats on the first ribbon Tommy!!!. A well deserved one too.

Jdroullard - By dropping out, I mean I selected those specific areas and dodged/curved/leveled them to near-black, which should be legal. We'll see in validation. The data is still there, just darkened.

call me crazy, but isn't it against the rules to "drop out the door and windows"? Isn't that removing an element of the picture?

WTG Tommy !!!!!! Well deserved ribbon

Such a rustic scene. The mountains are gorgeous!

I love the shape composition roof-summit

Very pretty. Your PP is just subtle enough for this image to work without looking "fiddled with".

Great image. Love the mountains and the clouds... the building is too centred for my liking though. Would have given in an extra one or two if not for that I reckon... none the less... still one of the higher scoring photos from my voting contribution for this challenge.

I feel like I've seen this building (with a fence in the left foreground?) in a challenge before, but I can't find it. Hmm. Anyway!

Great shot! I love how the building mimics the mountains. The shadows in the foreground add a nice touch!

*sigh*... no fair, I don't have any stupendous mountains to use in my photos.

Well, it's Ursula's old barn. Nice shot.

There is something that just doesn't quite work for me with this image, but I can't put my finger on it. There's something off......I'm actually frustrated that I can't define it. What that leaves me with is to instead see all the things that are so right with the image, not the least of which that it is an absolutely breathtaking scene. I love the weathered, yet well-preserved old building, the detail in the mountains is fabulous, and it is a wonderful job of execution & processing. 9

Stunning shot.
Barn/building just a bit too centred.
Good luck.

Very scenic location.

Beautiful although I would not have placed the building in the centre.

Beautiful work. 10
