Just what a mom needs....another creature to take care of. I am hoping for a 6....not to sure how this will be accepted at DPC. I have been busy shooting for other people for the last couple months. I took the time with this challenge to actully shoot for myself. I really enjoyed it!!!

It seems like my nine year old daughter has been mistaken for an adult. I was hoping it would come across stronger that this was a young girl in the photo and not an adult. Hanging onto a 6.7 right now. Not what I expected at all.....I'll take it though.

I love this one. It looks a little bizarre with the fish and the girl without a face. It makes me wonder what's going on and what's gonna happen. Very creative. Nice textures in the backdrop. Love the post processing.

Jenn, this is truly a wonderful photograph. The pose is great, a wonderful sense of shy child, embarrassed by her parents for wanting to photograph her with her prize!

Tones, composition and textures create quite a draw. Sweet zesty touch with the fish shape mirroring the ribbon bow trim on the dress.

My choice for the "blue" as well. Makes me think of Diane Arbus! Btw, despite the sense of awkwardness in the pose, it never occurred to me this was a child. My only criticism is that the vignette is too heavy for my taste, I wish the dress didn't darken so much at the top.

I love the quirkiness of this...I am sure the dpc voters won't appreciate this, but I love it 9

Great composition. I really like the chest down crop and various elements of the shot, such as the goldfish, the texture of the wall and the angle of the leg, combine to make the image really fascinating. There's a great classic feel to it and a wonderful sense of narrative. My pick for the Blue. 10.

Cute, but I'm not liking the centered composition. Very nice tones, very nostalgic.

ETA: I gave this a 7. Congrats on your placement.

This is an outstanding shot, one of my favorites! The subject, the pose, the background, and the black and white all give it an innocent and genuine feel.

I think the conversion to B&W really make this photo. It's classic.

nice capture. great idea but I feel left wondering what the rest of the story is. Although the photo in itself is good it makes me want to know more. Did a first boyfriend win the fish for her? Is she happy with her prize? It looks like a really interesting wall behind that could have been used more creatively...Still all in all a 7 in my humble opinion.

The anonymous nature of the woman is good on one major front. Because she can easily be anybody, the viewer is more readily able to project themselves into shot because of the mood and feel of this composition. The mood here is nostalgic - invoking memories and good times spent at the local fair where fun and carnival games are abound. The thrill of winning a prize be it stuffed animal or a goldfish was the pinnicle of a day at the fair experience. Winning a prize made you feel really happy - that and the funnel cakes or cotton candy:-)The polka dot dress makes us think of our childhood days - as that the clothes have a fun whimsical feel to it. I like the sepia tones here in the shot for it complements the idea of nostalgic memories. Times have gone by but we still have the happy memories of when we won the prize and brought the fish home with us. My only critique, and a small one at that, is that (I am dating myself here) in my generation we played for the goldfish. For true nostalgic representation of times gone by tis would have been better to have a goldfish rather than a beta fish. Nonetheless really great work - this is in my top 11.

Oddly, I'm wishing for a tighter crop on this - more off the top. But I like it and it's original. 7.

Came back to bump this. I think this is a gutsy shot for DPC, as many voters may vote it down for cutting off the head, but I think this shot is better because it is non-traditional. Beautiful photo.
