The technicals are great here, the focus on the eyes and the great tones...but this photo is really more about the mood and intensity you've capture in her eyes. Very well done!

That's just fine...and the reason why this is so interesting to look at. Perfection is highly overrated. I'll take real character anyway.

...and the neat thing is, you don't have to be. Nice job. So plain and simple. Keep up the good work Kari.

II'm giving a mediocre 5, so I'll let you know why. Although I like the pose and the intensity of the gaze, I'm not at all taken with the composition - perhaps I'm looking at this with an unsophisticated eye but the left eye (your/her left) holds the focus but the centred composition draws the eye away from here to the nose, which because of your depth of field is slightly out of focus. I think this would be a far more effective image if you had place the left eye dead centre.

Perhaps it was your intention to confound and provoke in this way, perhaps the title alludes to a deliberate unbalancing of the image - but in the final analysis, it isn't quite working for me.

Mesmerising eyes, yet not studio-like, made me look again and again and again, the unkempt hair, the hand. The lighting is just fab, not harsh or dazzling. This is a really good portrait.
