Not sure how this will do but it's an experiment to further my B&W PP techniques & hopefully get comment on that. Because I cannot spot edit/dodge burn in Basic, his eyes remain dark in relation to the rest of the shot. Adds to the mood I hope. It wasn't shot with a challenge in mind, but seeing as this challenge only had 19 entries with one day to go when I uploaded...brown here I come!
He's a tiny Southern African Hedgehog (Atelerix frontalis) who was not too impressed (frowning) by all the kids touching him at a company family day. They are thankfully not endangered but are on the SITES watchlist.

Very nice. It reminds me of a hedgehog we found in Iraq.

Considered this was basic editing you did well with the b/w conversion; as you stated, the eyes are too dark, but what can you do. DOF is somwhere in between, I were gone for a little deeper at slower shutter speed to have the kids arm sharper. Side note: Work on your titles (or ask a pro- - hint, hint)

I elected to use a rating table to decide on what value to assign during voting.
Here’s the table:
1 No Animal/People Interaction
2 Slightly Appealing, but no Animal/People Interaction
3 Moderately Appealing, but on Animal/People Interaction
4 Greatly Appealing, but no Animal/People interaction
5 Not Appealing, but possessing Animal/People Interaction
6 Slightly Appealing and possessing Animal/People Interaction
7 Moderately Appealing and possessing Animal/People Interaction
8 Greatly Appealing and possessing Animal People Interaction
9 Better than #8, and caused an audible sigh
10 Better than #9, and would likely declare it a favorite

Poor little guy! He couldn't have been too upset since he's not curled into a ball ;-)

Nice sharp image, like the processing that you chose, I like the hesitation that seems to be present as the child(?) gets ready to touch.
