By the way, in response to a number of posts here, I just snapped this shot from my window on a 737 (Southwest Airlines, landing at BWI on my way down to Norfolk, VA on business... breaking the "no electronics" rules! tsk!).

The original shot had a few more cars, and obviously, didn't have such stark contrast. Using levels and curves, I was able to force the entire ground area to disappear into almost pure black, while bringing the lines up and saturating them. I then went in with the clone brush and cleaned up the lines on the road (all of the cars except the white one had faded away to near blackness, leaving "holes" in the lines).

Finally, cropped it in a little bit to balance the composition.

The original is over here...

Thanks for all your great comments!

I'm so sorry that I didn't get to vote on this challenge. This woud have been my top vote. I work for HP and it's good to see such art coming from an HP camera. Outstanding photo!

Thanks for the great comments, everyone!

Managed to finish in the top 10, so I'm certainly very happy. I'll post more tomorrow, but I'm headed to sleep right now... thanks for all of your votes and comments!

Inredible POV! You really must have tweaked the contrast of this one, or it was taken under the floodlights...

Stunning image. The street and the car below are exceptionally graphic and well done. But, the wing flaps (I know you were going for bith airplanes and autos) take up too much of the image. I hope you tried the same shot with less wing.

Even with the wing flaps as is, it's a very strong and graphic submission.

Wonderful composition. Excellent idea. The yellow lines make it all. Very well executed. This is the best image I have come across thusfar in this challenge and I hope you will do very well with it. My first 10.

pick of the litter. Great geometry and strong use of color allow this composition to shine.

Great photo. Not sure how you achieved the black tarmac appearance with the roads but it looks nice, even if somewhat artificial. Deep DOF and color contrasts between the 2 subjects is good.

Very clean and simple. I can't figure out why the ground is solid black beyond the edges of the highway lanes, but it worked nicely for this image, keeping everything stark and man-made in appearance. High marks from me. :)
