Took 1300 shots and chose this one.
Shooting this kind of high speed photograph need some luck, hitting that right moment is like winning a Super lotto and thrills me. Therefore, I enjoy taking this kind of photo and am willing to share it here. Hope you guys like it too.

Thanks a lot to all the votes and comments!!

For those who questioned about lighting, I did write it in the title line. I thought you would check the title whenever you have a question. Other voters probably knew the fact that it requires "high speed flash".

I'll clarify. As long as you are shooting in total dark, it's only the flash duration (which is a fraction of speed) that matters, and not the shutter speed.

Thank you Krishan!! BTW, use 1/1000 with flash will be always failed unless the mechanical design of the shutter allows that.

Phenomenal and gorgeous. Obviously, the flash has given a second benefit, the ability to control the exposure to bring out the colours in the bg.

What is that background? Looks like a landscape, but it can't be if done in a dark room. Is the flash gelled?

wawww 1300 shot, man seriously I don't know how the 20D still alive, you made it run out of its expected life span by 1/60 in one single shooting.
Thats said, congratulation on the wonderful image and the very well deserved ribbon,

This is so beautiful and what great execution!!! I've tried this (don't have an external flash, thus not too successful lol), but you even got a super sharp, beautiful reflection as well!! Fantastic! Congrats on the ribbon!

I personally cannot believe anyone would vote this less than, say, a 7, particularly 6 people who gave it a 1. 6!!! I'm shocked. In my book this is a clear 10! As a new person here it leads me to believe that there is favouritism in operation on this site and that saddens me. Perhaps I am naive and not 'au fait' with the way the site works yet. But really, 6 people honestlythought that this image was SO poor that it didnt deserve even an average score of 5?? I am all for personal choice and not liking an image is one thing, but surely anyone that calls themselves a photographer would be able to admit that this is a stunning shot, deserved of at least 5 or higher simply for technical skill, even if not in their area of aesthestic pleasure. If they can't see that, then what are they doing here?
Sorry, rant over!
I think your shot is superb. Inspirational. Outstanding. Nuff said.

Its hard to improve on a water drop shot on this site, but you pulled it off. The 1's are very unfortunate, and undeserved. Great shot and congrats.

Wicked. Wild. These are drops hitting the splash from another drop, right? Both happening at the same moment is fantastic. I've never come close to attaining this type of shot. Timing is essential.

Personally I'm tired of water drops. (Don't sweat it, you're getting a great score from me.) But I do admire the technical accomplishment and have seen few better. Catching two must be much more than twice as hard as one. Well done.

This is an awesome shot! Certainly a different take on the routine "drop of water" shot. The problem I have is with meeting the challenge criteria. The light does not seem artificial. The background looks like a landscape with trees and mountains. When I look at this photo I see a sunset illuminating it. The challenge description said "to try and make it look artificial".

Wow!!! Is there anything that can get better in this photo... this is just awesome... getting two drops side by side, with such a beautiful combination of colors and that great background is a real achievement. A ribbon is for sure... i hope you would be knowing by now, how well this image is going to do... Great work...!!!
