 A lot of things were burned before I got to this one.

Editing: Curves, dodging and burning (the other kind), noise reduction, hue/sat, a little sponging (desat)

Grrr - just looked at the image on a brighter monitor and see some crap around the skull. bummer.

I kick myself for not finding and removing that noise everyday this is in voting. >:-(


[POST CHALLENGE]
My original idea:


I liked the uncropped version the best (below), but couldn't think of a good title and also thought it would really incriminate me and get me into trouble with SPEW.



Ultimately I went with the flaming skull which came out pretty good even though I f'd up on doing some noise cleanup. Oh well. Here's the aftermath...

Good finish mate !

I also couldn't see the noise until I changed my angle to the monitor and there it was. Only one person commented ont the noise though so it may have got past many people.

Yep, looks great on my monitor I use every day and I was wondering whatchootalkin'boutWillis but on my too bright monitor, you can see the editing noise on the right. Still a darn fine shot and way cool flame shape. And I'm assuming the carport is still standing?

When I first saw this photo, it was on my blackberry and I thought wow, but then I came home to vote on my computer and saw the noise. :( If I'm understanding your post-processing correctly you brightened the right side to see the skull and more of the flame, but it looks really bad with all of the noise. It would have looked so good if you left it black... Yeah, I looked at it again on my blackberry and it looks pretty good. I wonder if you can see the noise or if your monitor is too dark.
