I was playing with flash vs natural light in this shot. I had to let it go for over a second to get good light, and thankfully this guy didn't move at all.

Topaz Detail
Masked out lil fly and ran Topaz Denoise on the background
Cloned out a couple dust spots
Levels
Contrast boost
Selective sharpen

only just noticed ben's comment and your response .. i dont think he is a robberfly .. maybe a sort'v fly .. but robberflies have a beard but its hard to tell coz he's so tiny .. could be a sort'v long legged fly .. ?? .. i've just put one in our macro side ... he's a very colourful little fly, but i think they come in different colours etc .. :)
i just went to the fly section in this marvelous site called lifeunseen.com .. check out this little fly .. snipe fly
the guy who takes all the photographs is in australia, but insects get around . !!

how cute is that .. lol .. perched on top of the mushroom or some fungi or wotever it is .. ..
at first i thought he might be a mosquito, then i thought a very small fly .. heck .. i dont know wot he is .. but he made for an excellent photographic subject .. love the browns .. great shot .. :)
