Set it up, shot it and was getting ready to upload it when i realized i had ten petals.

oops.

rotated and cropped a petal out.

adjusted layers and contrast.
converted to black and white.
adjusted layers again.

I'm finding it hard to believe you got criticism for the flower not being pretty enough - geez louise - I thought this was a very creative take, with a whimsical presentation.

I wish the flower had been a little more symetrical, as I get what you were going for, but the shape of the flower just doesn't get it done.

Awesome tonal range with such a small, minimalistic presentation. That second petal on the left is a bit blown, this providing a small distraction and trap for my wandering eye. I like the composition, but that spot near the top on the right is driving me nuts. I keep trying to clean my monitor. Even still, nice capture and a strong presentation. 7.
