Taken at Derwent Water in the Lake District during my weekend break with Talj and salmiakki. We went past a slate quarry/shop and I purchased the #9 then carried it around the lakes ruining 200+ shots by including it in most of my images lol. One of my first shots of the morning, taken around 06:30am.

Cool, it certainly picked up from its 50 vote low of 4.6! Maybe I should have submitted the below as an aid for some voters ;)

oh, and am not bitter, I understand I was a little too subtle for many ;)

Lovely image and completely fits the challenge perfectly. Too bad people were trying to find nine objects instead of the 9.

Gorgeous image, Andi, and recovered very well from early voters who missed the nine, both the one you inserted and the one you discovered later.

Sorry this didn't do better for you Andi, though at least it continued to climb for you from where it started!! A lovely shot and one I would also have like to see without the 9...next time you'll remember to take one for a challenge and one just because it's a nice scene ;-)

Oh well... a learning experience, in terms of DPC challenges anyway. You have to hit them over the head Andi! [tsk]

I just realised the second 9! Never even noticed that to start with. :) Glad it went up a bit.

Gorgeous image. It almost looks like the nine (on a rock??) was pasted into the scene. I know you need the 9 to meet the challenge, but this would be a beautiful image without it! I'd consider cloning it out later on and keeping the rest as a stand alone image : )

I don't know why, but I feel like this would look good hanging on the wall of a fancy restaurant. I love the misty background. I assumed there were nine oars but now I see the number 9. I didn't see that the first time around. Cool shot.

Just a beautiful image, had to search for the 9 though.

Very nice, but missing the "9" aspect.

Magnificent photo with beautiful tones, the fading mist balances the deep rich colour of the wood. I just get this feeling the 9 was placed there, seeing as the other boats have no number!

Lovely shot. Not sure what it has to do with 9...

took me awhile to see the nine, but that could of just been me.

Without a similar number in front of the left boat, the 9 on the right boat feels contrived. It may not be but it just seems out of context and without knowing something else it's hard to understand it's purpose. I like the mysterious misty feel of the shot in general.

Meets the challenge : 1/3 - I see the nine but don't see what its conveying!
Execution : 2/2 - Great landscape shot though..
Originality : 0/2
and everything else : 0/3
total : 3/10

I actually think this is a "Gem" of a shot!!

Pearl-Gem of the planet moon.(Ask jeeves)lol
Pearl is a good gem stone for the Aries ascendant as Moon rules over the 4th...
Wonder who's birthday is on the 9th of the 4th!!!

Lots of signs in this shot,a hole in 1 me thinks, which makes it 1-1:-)XX

definetely this is one of my favourites on this contest cuz rhe 9 isn't so obvious, not to mention the quality and beaty of this photo. Maybe you should have intitled it "Find the 9" so the viewers to see where you are aiming at and not to give you a low vote, anyway you've got 10 from me

Lovely image, but I'm having a really hard time deriving any relevance to "9" from it. Am I being blind, or dumb? Feel free to PM me on this :-)

Not a shoehorned image from where I am standing

Must have gotten up early for this shot. Took my a while to find out where the nine was though.

I really had to search for the overall relation to the challenge subject. This is a neat image, but it is a shoehorn entry into the challenge. Nice technicals, but this one would better serve you in a different challenge. 3.

Beautiful shot. The 9 is a bit obscure and I almost missed it.
