This was a tough situation because of a blowing wind causing the foreground plants to move and blur during the multiple images I normally use for HDR. So this is made from one neutral exposed raw image which was then outputed as multiple 16bit tiff files at different exposures. The only thing that I could not really resolve very well from that was the sky. So I used another image taken from the raw series of exposures that was an underexposed one and made an additional 3 tiffs. I then created the HDR from that in photomatix. I then used a bit of topaz adjust to help boost the contrast. When I opened the resulting image in PS I did not like the effect of the hdr on all the goldenrod and other plants in the foreground because it made them look too crunchy. So I agained opened up the neutral exposed image in PS and put it in a layer above the HDR layer and used a layer mask to blend the two. I used mostly the non HDR plantlife with and HDR phone booths and sky, although I toned down the sky by letting some of the non HDR version take effect.

Overall I am pretty happy with it because it is a bit unique because it mixes HDR with non HDR in some areas. I debated as to how much HDR effect I wanted to use since I am normally not a fan of the overcooked skys etc. In the end I left it as pretty heavy HDR because I think that is what people will be looking for in this challenge.

*sigh* bl...dy stupid idea to have lost those phone boxes from our tourist towns. Nicely done shot. Be interesting to see what would happen if the greenes of the foliage was reduced.

Killed by mobile phones. A shame too, the UK phone booths really have some style to them.
