 Well, spring has been very cool in this part of Canada, which explains the lack of leaves in the tree.

This was one of many shots I took of this pretty field. The sky above and beyond the tree was was dark and cloudy while it was mostly clear above and behind me, explaining the well lit field.

I'm expecting at least one DQ request since the tree has no leaves and the field is in bloom (taken too early for challenge).

I'm also expecting a score between 5.5 and 5.7.

Cropped to 3:2 ratio.
Cloned out fence on horizon at left.
Corrected slight blown out highlights in sky with clone stamp and burn tool.
Burned darker clouds.
Dodged most of field to heighten brightness of colours.
Adjusted levels by darkening shadows and lightening midtones.
Increased cyan of sky and tweaked yellow flowers using hue/saturation.
Dodged certain areas of field again.
Transformed from RGB ot Lab colour and sharpened lightness channel using USM.
Resized for submission.
Sharpened once more using USM.
Flattened and saved as RGB.
Save for Web.

The field and tree are nice, but the clouds really set the mood for this image.

Very nice shot. The layers and colors are breathtaking. Very Van Goh-ish ;)
The contrast between the sky and field really makes the forground and subject "pop"..... 8

lovely scene you've set. the clouds set a great background, flowers/grass foreground and your main element gets lots of attention. Your shot has what few others (that I've seen so far) lack -- a "focal point"

Beautiful and simple. Very nice. A tiny bit oversaturated, I think, which takes a bit away from the overall sharpness, but I LOVE the composition.
