I was shocked to see how this image scored, until I realised what challenge you had entered it into :)

I imagine if you had entered it into a more relevant challenge or free study it would have had a 6+ score, it's a wonderful shot, interesting and perfectly lit, with the reflection topping it off just nicely.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I guess a 5.67 is not a bad score for a photo that isn't abstract in any way and doesn't really show much in the realm of macro photography either :) This photo is nicely done, but I think it could be stronger in quite a few ways... Personally I think this image is stronger if you rotate it 90° counterclockwise so the flow goes from top left to bottom right. Images like this are also difficult to critique. There isn't really anything technically wrong with this image, so everything I might offer is purely subjective.

This is a beautiful image and in another challenge I am sure your placing would have been much higher. I would also suggest that you offer this as a print.

Beautiful image... though you are likely getting "that's not abstract" comments, still a 7 from me.

Beautyful picture, BUT, an abstract image is not representing or imitating external reality or the objects of nature

you have great color and a wonderful DOF, but you do not have a true macro shot

Simple and nice! I would like to see it rotated to the 90 degrees.

beautiful shot, but, imo, dnmc. it is too obvious a shell and doesn't suggest anything else to me. not an abstract
