I originally planned on entering this image in color because it is a blue background and the top of the stapler was green. It looked cool. Then when I sharpened the black layer in lab color, I thought, wow, that looks better in black and white because it has a great tonal range. So I converted it and left it.

I know some one won't feel this is a deep depth of field shot, but I wanted it to have something different than a landscape shot. And in any case this is deep depth of field. At f32, the highest for the lens, it still gets a little blurry at the back of it. I used an extension tube to get in close, and then hyper focal distance to get as much in focus as I could. It is full frame except a little I cropped off of the right for a slightly better composition.

AHHHH! I have that stapler...that means you're awesome. AND so's this photo (you see how I did that? transitions! wave of the future) I never saw a stapler lookin' so damn beautiful. It's like a gorgeous little flower or a sunset. Wow, I...am...impressed. Keep 'em coming. I want this to win, not just for you but for those cool staplers that go unnoticed around the world. 10 10 10!!!!!

One of the very few macros that meets the challenge requirements. Superb job on focus and lighting. B&W is also very good choice. I also like the halo-ing you achieved with this shot - burning? Good luck.

Great focus, tone and lighting. Crop is too close to left of subject.

Very nice job. Not only have you gotten the focus spot-on, the composition and tonal range are both really nice, too. 8
