This was an outtake for the portrait challenge. It is a drop dead gorgeous picture of Em and I adore it and since I didn't have anything I preferred from this month for the free study I decided to enter it.

The lighting is awesome--very natural. The darkest part of the picture are her eyes and lashes...very striking.

Great use of the plant to add interest to the portrait. The lighting is great with the strong high backlighting and I guess a reflector to really brint those eyes to life? Great expression and perfect DOF for a stunning black and white portrait

This is simply stunning. The model is very beautiful, which always helps the photographer, but it is also a shot that is beautifully executed. The use of light is really good, as are all the technicals, but it is the styling that marks this out for me - lovely.

loved this picture except I think with such captivating eyes a more into the lens or forward glance would be more inviting.

I really like the idea behind this shot, but it appears (to me) that it was squished. I don't know if it's the angle, my monitor, my eyes or what but it looks like the vertical aspect has been squished down. I could be wrong, but that's how I see the image.

EDIT: I've looked at this on another monitor and the squishiness referred above was specific to the other computer. On this one I don't notice it. Sorry. Now that I see it on this monitor it is great.

7 - Very nice image - lighting, model, make up, clothing, hand pose, glance, eyes, hair - especially with the natural sunlight. I like the flower elements too, very nice and feminine, without (apparent) softening too, which works well. Biggest issue for me is the overall balance and cropping. Either both shoulders in and more space (obviously) to the right) else a slightly tighter crop on the left.

Great portrait. The back light from the sun is very dramatic. She is lost in her thoughts, despite the flowering plant.

A portrait master class - it's this combination of softness and sharpness that I never seem to be able to pull off.

This one is better than the Portrait entry! Didn't think is was possible! Good Luck.
