"She was walking alone, always wearing the same beret, and always with the same white dog; no one knew who she was, and every one called her simply 'the lady with the dog'."
Anton Chekhov

I posted a very similar shot in the July Lensbaby SC, and I feel kinda bad for repeating myself now, but I have nothing else worth submitting this month, sorry. Besides I know that people do this sometimes... In fact it is a different shot, if it makes you feel any better... Not too different, but different. :)

Almost no processing here, except for conversion to BW and cloning out a big clump of seaweed in front of her (I think it was seaweed, you can still see it in the other shot).

This image received a honorable mention in the 2010 Lensbaby competition.

Ah ha! So it was you! I knew I'd seen it in the side challenge but couldn't remember from who. EXCELLENT shot. Too bad I'm not better read to get the title reference but I quite enjoy it just the same now that you've pointed it out. I love how everything around her is gray...

Didn't get round to commenting during the challenge, but this was one of my highest scoring images. Love it.

Way cool effect! Like she's carrying on a perfectly "normal" walk with her poufy little dog in the midst of absolute chaos and destruction. Totally oblivious to everything around her. Really well done :-)

The black thingy in the foreground didn't bother me but it looks more persuasive this way, without any obstacles so my eyes are drawn to the lady at once. So, to favs again.

I do like your use of blur to make the lady stand out.

I think this shot is magnificent. Awesome DoF and the background almost has movement. Did you achieve this by turning the barrel of the lense when you shot this? Just curious cause I love the effect... Well done. 10!

absolutely love it.
A centered subject that really works.
For some reason the second I saw this my first thought was of Phan Thi Kim Phuc but then only seconds later it put me in mind of 1940s/50s Hollywood. This is a 10 from me

The combination of elements produces an amazing effect - the grey (seemingly dusty) background almost suggests on war-torn landscape and then there is this figure walking her dog! I know that's not what this is, but that's what it suggests to me. Very compelling work.
